This policy explains what information SmartLivingHut collects when you use this website, why we collect it and what choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter: your email address, the page you signed up on and your country (United States, United Kingdom or unknown), so we can send the newsletter you asked for.
  • Contact form: your name, email address and message, so we can reply.

Information collected automatically

  • Country. Our hosting provider tells us which country a request comes from. We use it only to choose which retailers to show you and store it in a cookie on your device. We do not store your IP address in our database.
  • Affiliate link clicks. When you click a "Check price" link we record which product, retailer and article were involved, the link's country, the country your request came from, and whether you used a phone, tablet or computer. We do not record who you are.
  • Article views. We count how many times each article is read. The count is a single number per article with nothing that identifies you.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability, for a limited period.

With your consent only

  • Analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. Google receives usage information and sets cookies.
  • Advertising. If you accept advertising cookies, our advertising partner (Google AdSense) may use cookies to show and measure ads.

How we use information

To run the site, show retailers for your country, send the newsletter if you subscribed, reply to your messages, understand in aggregate which content is useful, and keep the site secure. We do not sell your personal information.

  • Consent: newsletter, analytics cookies and advertising cookies.
  • Legitimate interests: running and securing the site, counting anonymous link clicks and article views, replying to messages.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site, such as our hosting provider, our email service once you subscribe, and Google if you consent to analytics or advertising. When you click through to a retailer, that retailer's own privacy policy applies.

Retention

  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Contact messages: deleted once dealt with, and in any case within [12] months.
  • Click and view counts: kept in aggregate; they contain no personal identifiers.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to withdraw consent at any time. UK residents can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for using those rights. Children

SmartLivingHut is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, using safeguards required by law.
